Since the passage of Obamacare, American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) has led the way in helping state lawmakers pass Health Care Freedom Laws, resulting in a multi-state effort to make federal health care mandates illegal or void in dozens of states at once. This multi-state collaborative strategy is critical to limiting the powers of the federal government and returning power back to the states and the American people. Browse our growing list of state health care freedom bills.
While ALEC health care freedom bills seek to narrowly strike down the “individual mandate” of Obamacare, some states like Missouri and Arizona have passed laws that provide an opt-out of the contraception/abortion mandate within Obamacare. Other states like North Dakota, Idaho, and possibly Utah have gone so far as to nullify Obamacare in its entirety. Missouri even forwarded a bill that would both nullify Obamacare and criminalize any attempt to implement the law within the Show Me state. For sure, the only true solution is for dozens of states to act together to nullify the entire federal law and refuse all compliance, as with state medical marijuana laws and states banning the federal Real ID Act of 2005.
