Oklahoma voters end affirmative action programs in state

A legislatively-referred ballot measure sponsored by Sen. Rob Johnson and Rep. Leslie Osborn, and passed into law by voters on November 6, 2012, State Question 759 (The Oklahoma Affirmative Action Ban Amendment) prohibits affirmative action programs in government employment, education, and contracting that give preferred treatment based on race, color, gender, ethnicity, or national origin. The amendment appeared on the Nov. 6, 2012 ballot in the state of Oklahoma.
