    Mississippi to ban enforcement of federal gun laws

    Sponsored by Reps. Chism, Formby, et al., HB467 states, “Any official, agent or employee of the United States government who enforces or attempts to enforce any act, order, law, statute, rule or regulation of the United States government upon a personal firearm, a firearm accessory or ammunition that is owned or manufactured commercially or privately in Mississippi and that remains exclusively within the borders of Mississippi shall be guilty of a felony and, upon conviction, shall be subject to imprisonment for not less than one (1) year and one (1) day or more than five (5) years, a fine of not more than Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00), or both.”

    Mississippi seeks state sovereignty committee to neutralize unconstitutional federal laws

    Bill: HB490 (PDF)

    Sponsored by Reps. Gary Chism and Jeffrey Smith, HB490 would direct the state of Mississippi to establish the Joint Legislative Committee on the Neutralization of Federal Laws. The committee, to be led by the Lieutenant Governor and six members of each chamber of the state legislature, would “recommend, propose and call for a vote by simple majority to neutralize in its entirety a specific federal law or regulation that is outside the scope of the powers delegated by the people to the federal government in the United States Constitution.”

    Mississippi ‘School Protection Act’ to arm school administrators, protect kids

    Sponsored by Reps. Gary Chism, HB177 (“The School Protection Act”) authorizes school administrators to have a handgun to defend the school. Administrator must have a federal firearm license, must be licensed under Section 45-9-101 to carry a concealed weapon and must successfully complete an instructional course in the safe handling and use of firearms offered by an instructor certified by a nationally recognized organization that customarily offers firearms training, or by any other organization approved by the Department of Public Safety.
