Arizona to nullify National Defense Authorization Act

Bill: SB1182 (PDF)

Sponsored by Sen. Sylvia Allen and the Committee on Border Security, Federalism, and State Sovereignty, SB1182 (titled the “Liberty Preservation Act”) states that “this state and any agency of this state shall not provide material support or participate in any way with the implementation of sections 1021 and 1022 of the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012 (NDAA), Public Law 1112-81, against any citizen of the United States.” The legislation finds that detainment of American citizens authorized by the NDAA is a direct violation of numerous individual rights recognized in the U.S. Constitution, and any official found in violation of the Liberty Preservation Act is guilty of a class 1 misdemeanor.
