Tennessee bans foreign law from use in state courts

Dennis, and signed into law by the governor, Public Chapter No. 983 (SB3740/HB3768) establishes certain public policies in regard to the application of foreign laws, legal codes and systems to protect constitutional rights of citizens of Tennessee. Commonly known as “American Law for American Courts” legislation, this law prevents Tennessee courts from applying foreign laws in U.S. cases.
